The Mississippi sports betting market experienced a sustained dip in gambler expenditures for the fourth consecutive month in July. The state’s total wagered amount also dipped in comparison to the previous year.
Mississippi sports betting witnessed a total of $18.3 million in player spending in July, representing a reduction of 27.1% from $25.1 million in June and a 40.4% decline compared to the $30.7 million recorded in July 2021.
Earnings rose from the preceding month, climbing 19.5% from $2.1 million in June to $2.5 million in July. However, this figure was 13.8% lower than the $2.9 million recorded in July of the previous year.
Casinos situated along the coast were the most sought-after locations for sports betting within the state, attracting a total of $11.4 million in bets and generating $1.5 million in earnings.
Central casinos saw player spending reach $4.1 million, generating $481,362 in revenue, while northern casinos attracted $2.8 million in wagers during the month, generating $513,693 in revenue.
Baseball emerged as the most popular sport for betting in July, with consumers wagering $6.5 million at coastal casinos, $1.9 million at central casinos, and $1.6 million at northern casinos.
