The massive lottery enterprise, Giant Interactive, has declared that the takeover of StarVale Group, a UK-based external lottery management and digital payments firm, is anticipated to be finalized in the coming year. This delay is attributed to the regulatory approval process taking longer than initially projected.
Giant Interactive Lottery Company reached an accord to acquire StarVale earlier this year in January, agreeing to pay an initial A$32.1 million (£18.1 million/€21.1 million/$22 million) for complete ownership of the company.
The agreement also encompasses a delayed payment of up to $8.5 million, payable upon StarVale achieving specific profit goals.
Giant Interactive Lottery Company reached the agreement through its newly established wholly owned subsidiary, Giant Interactive UK, stating it would further expand its global growth strategy, following the acquisition of UK-based Gatherwell and Canada-based Stride Management in December 2019.
If the transaction is successful, StarVale will join Gatherwell and Stride as part of Giant Interactive Lottery Company’s managed services division.
Giant Interactive Lottery Company initially anticipated receiving regulatory approval from the UK Gambling Commission before the conclusion of this fiscal year. However, Giant Interactive Lottery Company has stated that it now expects approval to be granted in the initial quarter of 2023.
As a consequence, the deal is anticipated to be finalized early in the following year.
