Betway has inked a deal as the primary backer for the first season of South Africa’s thrilling new T20 competition, poised to captivate audiences in early 2023. The league will officially be called the Betway SA20.

This sponsorship agreement is the most recent example of Betway’s dedication to cricket, encompassing collaborations with Cricket South Africa and Cricket West Indies. They’ve also teamed up with English cricket icon Kevin Pietersen as a worldwide representative, who frequently provides his analysis on Betway Insider. Aspiring to become one of the premier cricket leagues internationally, the SA20 seeks to motivate a fresh generation of athletes and supporters.

The competition commences on January 10, 2023, featuring 33 matches slated across six major South African cities: Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, and Paarl.

“This marks a significant occasion for Betway as we assume the role of title sponsor for the debut Betway SA20,” remarked Betway CEO Anthony Werkman. “Our objective is to strengthen our standing as a frontrunner in the global sports wagering landscape, and our cricket offerings are integral to that. The enthusiasm surrounding this tournament is immense, and we eagerly anticipate witnessing the Betway brand showcased on an international platform through this collaboration.”

A half-dozen squads are primed for competition in this contest: the Durban Super Giants, Johannesburg Super Kings, Cape Town Blitz, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals, and the Eastern Cape Sunrisers.

A notable personality in South African cricket, Graeme Smith, expressed his enthusiasm about Betway joining the SA20. He remarked, “Their global presence and genuine love for the sport make them a perfect fit, and this collaboration significantly elevates the tournament.” Smith continued, “We firmly believe that with Betway’s backing, the SA20 will captivate fresh viewers globally.”
