The UKs advertising watchdog ruled in favor of a consumer who challenged a potentially deceptive Jeffbet promotion. The advertisement proclaimed a “Wager £10 Receive £30 in Bonus Wagers” deal but concealed within the terms and conditions the stipulation that it was exclusively applicable to first-time users across the entire ProgressPlay platform, not solely Jeffbet. The ASA concurred that the phrasing gave the impression that any new Jeffbet patron would be eligible, particularly given the ample space to incorporate the essential particulars. They further asserted that the advertisement should have explicitly stated the offer was intended for newcomers to the ProgressPlay network in its entirety, not just Jeffbet, and clarified that ProgressPlay manages numerous gaming websites.
The United Kingdom’s Advertising Practices Agency (ASA) determined a Jeffbet promotion was deceptive. The advertisement suggested that every first-time player qualified for a reward, which was inaccurate. The ASA instructed Jeffbet to remove the advertisement and ensure upcoming offers are transparent and don’t leave out significant conditions.
Separately, the Swedish administration is contemplating shuttering Casino Cosmopol, its network of brick-and-mortar casinos. The action arises as the casinos are encountering difficulties achieving profitability.
